The Habit Planner is breaking down my thinking from diet 'practice' to habit awareness. This hasn't been a once and done exercise. The process of steps helps me identify where my years of dieting have actually built in some pretty strong habits that led to my weight gain. Since the start I have changed up my targeted habits and goals, as Brandice says might happen, and adjusted to fit my personal struggle. For example, it is clear how much I've lost touch with basic hunger and fullness, not just what I was choosing to eat. I'm now seeing small victories. This is a great companion to the daily Chew the Word verses.
My greatest testimony to the healthy habits program is that it taught me that I was putting weight loss before my walk with Christ. Oh, I was still doing devotions and going to church and praying and living a godly life but my first love was not the Lord it was being thin anyway possible! I have now learned that by putting the Lord first in ALL things, He is in control and I no longer have to think constantly on my food and what I’m doing either right or wrong (according to what foods I used to think were good or bad) and can let Him lead me. I still have to put in the effort to make right food choices but I’m no longer feeling that I’m in control of it all. Letting go of something you’re not supposed to be controlling is very freeing! Oh and by the way, I’ve lost 14 lbs up to today, but even better I have a stronger relationship with my Lord! Losing weight is just a nice side effect of following where your supposed to be going! Praise God for Brandice and how she feeds me with the Word!
